Music Senior Spotlight: Rebekah Buettner
Rebekah has been involved in band and choir all 4 years of HS, as well as Cyrano de Burgershack, Legally Blonde, and solo/ensemble contest. Rebekah says she chose music at Sioux Central because "I have always had so much fun participating in our band and choir, but my favorite part is the concerts." Her favorite song in choir was A Medley from Jekyll & Hyde from this past Pops Concert. Her favorite song from band was either "Game of Thrones" or "The Hunger Games". Her favorite memory from the music department "has to be when we performed A Christmas Carol for band. The narration and music sounded amazing at our Christmas concert!" Thank you Rebekah!
8th graders used virtual reality to explore careers this week!
Come on out tomorrow at 5pm to support the junior high in their performance of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz! These students have worked really hard making this an awesome show that you won't want to miss!
Allison Ehlers was nominated to perform at the All-State Individual Speech Festival!! This will take place on Monday, March 25th at UNI. Congrats on all of your hard work, Allison!

Yesterday the Sioux Central art students attended the Twin Lakes Art Conference. Throughout all schools, 108 pieces of art were submitted into the art show. Cadence Hartley received first place in the category for non-acrylic paintings for her piece, "Enchanted Loneliness". Stevy Griffin received an honorable mention for her 3D sculpture, "Starving". The students also got to participated in different kinds of art workshops throughout the day. These work shops included, Raku Firing, a form a ceramic firing and Airbrushing. Everyone had a great day viewing and creating art!
The National Honor Society Induction ceremony will take place at 7:00 PM tonight, March 21, at Sioux Central in the commons.

More than 60 students and community members turned up to celebrate the beginning of construction on the new greenhouse last night!
Sioux Central's Elementary Spring Concert will be Tuesday, March 26th at 7:00PM in the HS Gym. All students in TK - Grade 5 will sing, as well as a performance by the 5th grade band. Elementary art projects will be displayed for all to enjoy, too! We are excited to perform for you! Be sure to come early to get a good seat!!
Five 5th graders spent the day at the Sioux City AEA exploring all things computer science! Students got to explore how to use new robots, learn new coding concepts, and build their curiosity and problem-solving skills as a team. What a fun day had by all!

Music Senior Spotlight: Ethan Wernimont
Ethan has been involved in choir for 1 semester and band and jazz band for all for years of HS. He has also helped with the drama department doing sound for Cyrano de Burger Shack, Legally Blonde, Romeo and Winifred, and Disney's The Little Mermaid. When asked why music at SC, he said "the directors are just amazing people!" His favorite song to play in band was "Flight of Valor", and his favorite memories from being in the music department is the time spent in the practice room making memories with his friends. Sioux Central FCCLA practices their sewing and crocheting skills and donates baby caps, and burp cloths to the Spencer Hospital. Honoring the importance of self care for new moms they even put together a little care package for them too! Pictured are Marley Madsen and Caitlin Wildeman, who led the project, and delivered the care packages to the hospital.
