A couple of basketball schedule changes for this week...JV B/G will play 2 quarters each tonight at St. Mary's. Start time is 4:30 p.m. Friday....we will play JV G only vs. PAC. No JV B game on Friday. That starts at 4:30 with varsity girls starting at 6:00 p.m. Go Rebels!
Last week, our peer mentoring group celebrated the season with a fun-filled trip to the Spencer Movie Theater. We watched Moana 2, enjoyed some delicious snacks, and created even more wonderful memories together.
A huge thank you to our high school mentors and the staff at Sioux Central for their continuous support and flexibility in helping make this program a success for our kids!

We sent home decodable books to all 1st graders this week. “Decodable” means that the books are written for beginning readers and use simple words to help students connect letters and sounds. Through assessment, the teachers made sure they sent home the books specific to each child's needs. The Iowa Department of Education made a statewide investment of over $3.5 million to provide every first grade student with decodable book packs to take home and keep, reinforcing classroom instruction. Gov. Reynolds said. “These book packs, based on the Science of Reading, bring parents more fully into that process by giving them a fun way to reinforce at home what their children are learning at school. It’s a powerful way to teach our kids to read—so they can spend a lifetime reading to learn.” Each decodable book includes a QR code with access to video lessons for active family engagement. This way everyone knows how to use them and are working together to build better readers. "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go".

The JH wrestling tournament in Spencer for tomorrow has been cancelled. The HS portion will now start at 1:00 p.m.
Due to weather chances tonight the JV BB games have been cancelled for tonight and varsity will start at 4:30 p.m. in Manson. Travel safely.
Due to the weather forecast in the Des Moines area our boys HS wrestling team will NOT be attending the tournament in Colfax tomorrow.
Due to the MS/HS Winter Concert on Monday night December 16th, the Regular Board Meeting will be moved to that morning at 7:00 AM in the Library. However the Public Hearing will still take place at 6:00 PM in the Library.
