POSITIVE BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTIONS AND SUPPORTS (PBIS) WEBSITE

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a school wide systems change to create a positive school culture by teaching and modeling positive behaviors in all areas of the school, reinforcing students for appropriate behavior, and using clear, consistent consequences for inappropriate behavior.

Many of you are probably familiar with the basics of PBIS from all the information we have put in the Rebel Review newsletter. Sioux Central has four behavioral expectations that are taught and modeled throughout the year.

  • Safety

  • Caring

  • Respect

  • Responsible

All students are taught how to follow these behaviors in all areas of the school. PBIS is a national initiative developed to change the school culture and climate to be more consistent and positive. The basic goal of this system change is to create a new and more positive culture that will be in place for several years.

We will continue to give you updates about PBIS through this website and in our Rebel Review newsletter. So far, teachers and staff have noticed changes already in the way students act toward adults and each other. It is exciting to be a part of a national phenomenon that is having such great success all over the country. Thank you for your continued support of your children as they learn how to be academically AND socially successful at Sioux Central!
