WELCOME TO SIOUX CENTRAL MIDDLE SCHOOL

I am Jeff Scharn, the Sioux Central Middle/High School principal here to tell you a little about myself and the opportunities you have at the middle school. I’ve been the middle school principal here at Sioux Central for the past 26 years, and before that taught in the district for 9 years. I received my BA from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, and my MA from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Since earning my Masters, I have continued my education and received my Educational Specialist degree from Wayne State.

My wife Lynn and I reside in Peterson and have three daughters. Briana earned her doctorate in OT and is working as a Occupational Therapist for the AEA out of the Storm Lake office, Brooke is a Kindergarten teacher in the Southeast Polk school district, and Nicole is a senior at UNI this fall studying Communication Disorders. I have been very pleased with the education that my daughters have received here at Sioux Central, and feel it is an honor to serve as the districts principal.

The students of Sioux Central Middle School have great opportunities to prepare themselves for their high school years. Sioux Central is a 1:1 school, as all middle school students are issued an iPad for their school use. Students have all the main core classes including math, science, language, social studies, reading, and PE/health. Students then have a chance to explore different areas with 6 different 6 week courses in our exploratory program. Students also have opportunities with various fine arts programs and activities to prepare for their high school years. Another great luxury is that students here have a staff that is dedicated to education and a staff that cares about each individual student.

Please contact me if you have any questions about the Sioux Central Middle School. We are very proud of our school system and our programming and I would be happy to discuss all avenues of the educational system with you.

Have a great day!!
